For a painter, there are both advantages and disadvantages that come with living in one of the most geographically isolated parts of the world. But Fremantle, Western Australia tends to tip the scale to the advantages side.

I was fortunate in attending a lively, practical art school in the late 1960’s, just before art schools were absorbed by universities, graduating in 1970, and like most art students, coming out ill-equipped for the more worldly matters of making a life. Having a first exhibition in 1971, travel followed, and back to a variety of occupations, while continuing to make and show paintings over the next 50 odd years.

Painting doesn’t happen in a void and it could not happen without an extraordinary partner, a tight knit bunch of fellow painters and those essential champions, the collectors.

Apart from that, the paintings might speak for themselves.
